By background, Diego is a strong multiskilled geoscientist and subsurface technical leader with an evident can-do attitude focused on distilling and delivering direct business and investment decisions. He is a Subsurface specialist pragmatic and technical thinker who prioritizes End-to-End Integration of all available data and perspectives.
In 17 years, 15 with Shell, Diego has been exposed to a wide range of value propositions and priorities from Exploration and Development of hydrocarbon resources to Carbon Capture & Storage - New Energies.
Diego's career on CCS started being seconded in Equinor working on the Northern Lights project (Norway) as the only Shell subsurface representative. He is probably one of the few geoscientists around the world with experience on screening, maturation, appraisal and development of CO2 storage resources from prospective to marketable volumes. This resulted in a couple of well received publications.
Diego also supported Shell coded projects in Asia and Europe carrying out Play Based Exploration screening work for CO2 storage. Furthermore, Diego has also gained experience on maturing another high profile CCS project, making use of depleted fields in the Netherlands.
Diego has recently consulted for projects in Russia (Yamal Blue Ammonia), and the British Geological Survey (BGS).
Diego's firsthand specific experience includes:

Containment Risk Assessments and resulting risk based Measure, Monitoring and Verification (MMV) plans.

Workflows to estimate and mature marketable CO2 resources and Storage Development Planning.

Although partially retired, he is in constant search for opportunities and challenges in the Energy industry, which is currently focused in Decarbonisation.
